Who are we?

  • The People's Open Access Educational Initiative, the Peoples-uni, was registered in January 2007. Our aim is to help with Public Health capacity building in low- to middle-income countries, through Internet based education. The use of Open Educational Resources freely available on the Internet, and volunteers to staff the Initiative, allows this to be offered at very low cost.
  • An application for charitable status has been approved by the UK Charity Commission, as PEOPLE'S OPEN ACCESS EDUCATION INITIATIVE - REGISTERED NO: 1126265
  • Trustees will include Professor Rajan Madhok (Chair), Dr Selwyn Hodge, Dr Kani Torun and Professor Dick Heller (Coordinator of the Peoples-uni)
  • An International Advisory Group can be seen below

  • Individual course module development and delivery teams have been formed, including more than 70 tutors from 19 different countries
  • An IT group underpins development and delivery. It is led by Omo Oaiya and Lorraine Duff
