Reading the materials online or offline

Reading the materials of-line, and saving and printing materials
This is an Internet based course, and most of the resources are accessed through the Internet and comprise web pages. You may find that it is easier, and less expensive, to read some of the materials off-line, while not connected to the Internet. It is quite wasteful to print out a large volume of material, but some people do find this easier to do than read on the screen.

We have tired to make the material easy to print out if you have to, but this is basically an on-line course and you should try to work as much as possible with materials on the screen.

You may want to save the web pages to read later while off-line. This is quite easy to do. If you are using Windows Explorer you can follow these instructions. We prefer to use Firefox as an alternative to Windows Explorer, as it is a free and open source resource. If you do use Firefox, the ScrapBook is an excellent and easy way of saving web pages to read off-line. Alternatively, Zotero, is an other Firefox extension to help you collect, manage, and cite your research sources, and saves web pages to read off-line.

We have created a file for you to download which contains many of the resources. You will find this within each Topic of the Course Module, as a zip file which contains copies of the resources as pdf files. You can download these to your computer, CD-ROM or data stick. You can then read the resources without having to log on to the Internet, although you will have to log on to contribute to the Discussion forums and submit assignments etc.
